This lecture will explore a seven-hundred-year-old satirical poem, which Ahmad translated in Iran in the summer of 2014. Despite its playful surface, this fable offers a unique philosophical anthropology and political philosophy that is a profound reflection of the chaotic times of the poet. Its themes are powerfully relevant to human culture regardless of time and place, perhaps especially to our own troubled period.

The concept of evolution, understood as the adaptive change of a species through time in response to environmental conditions, has been applied to many fields outside of biology where it originated.  How can the notion of "evolution" be applied to the psyche? In particular, how might the concept of psychic evolution be understood from the perspective of Carl Jung's Analytical Psychology?
